You have selected Dr Patterson to carry out your medical assessment and write a report in relation to your road traffic accident.
Dr Patterson is able to undertake assessments for both soft tissue and non-soft tissue injuries.
Dr Patterson will either see you face to face or conduct a remote assessment, to obtain the information for the report.
The remote assessment can be via Facetime, Whatsapp, Zoom or Team.
Dr Patterson will ask you for details about:
- Home circumstances and employment
- Your past medical history, including previous accidents
- Details of the treatment you had at hospital/GP/physio
- The progression of your symptoms and current symptoms
- The effect on your work and leisure.
He will then examine the areas which were injured in the incident.
If you have any queries in relation to the process of obtaining the report or the interaction with the claims portal please raise this with Dr Patterson when you speak with him.
For face to face assessments, we will provide possible dates, times and places where the medical assessment could take place.
We will look to find the most convenient for you. The appointment will be within the following 21 days. We will then agree this and send you an email confirming all the details. The email will also contain a Privacy Consent Form. Please complete and send this back to us, or simply send us an email to confirm your acceptance.
We will send you a reminder via text which you need to respond to, so we know you will be attending. If we don’t get any answer then we will call and check if the date is good or needs to be changed.
If you don’t attend your appointment then the report cannot be written and your claim will be delayed. If for some reason you cannot attend then let us know so that we can rearrange for a more convenient time. If you don’t attend then we will contact you and look to arrange an alternative appointment.
Dr Patterson will write a medical report to include all the information above and also his opinion in relation to the length of time he expects it will take before you make a full recovery.
Within 5 days of the assessment Dr Patterson will upload the report onto the claims portal so that you will be able to view the report.
If you agree with the contents of the report then you can accept this on the portal and decide whether to share the report with the insurance company then, or wait until the end of the recovery period.
If there are areas of the report which you do not agree with, then you can indicate this on the portal and raise a challenge. Details of the areas of disagreement are then sent to Dr Patterson so that he can amend the areas in which you both agree.
If there are areas when yourself and Dr Patterson disagree, then you can detail this to the insurance company on the portal, so that they can be taken into consideration when the report is assessed.
